Henri on Business
The amount of business information passing through the media is growing exponentially. No single person can absorb that much information! This segment of the Henri Reynard blog reports items of interest to those who care about the impact of business on our lives. Hopefully we will contribute to the general debate.
Posturing is the main political event of these times. Some right side pundits hack away at the problems with sharp little knives and some left side pundits paint the picture with a very broad brush. It is our intent to be pithy to the point of pain and help both sides see that their views are not always solutions. No one side of any debate has all of the truth. Sometimes the main stated argument is artificial to the point of absurdity. We would like to believe that our natural penchant for examining the absurd will serve our audience. This is a time when banks are nationalized to save them from their own management without removing the mismanaging people in charge. There is a lot of room for satire and even savagery. “Off with their Heads,” is sadly a plaintive cry in these degenerate times. We are reduced to pounding on the pulpit while venting our frustration at the stupidity of it all. Ranting is the current course of discourse and we will often run madly down that path.
Meanwhile the world turns daily. As ponderous as this old planet is it continues in its orbit dancing among the stars and galaxies as if it had suffered no plague of humans at all. Evidently our weight is not sufficient to make us noticed by any true masters of the universe. Hopefully that will continue as extermination may be the only viable cure for this planet wide infestation.
We find all events equally vulnerable to humor. No matter how anxiety producing they may be, all are deserving of a slap or at least a tickle. Riding the beast of human greed and self aggrandizement makes for an interesting trip. Forty years in business and entrepreneurial ventures have taught us that much at least.
There will be three types of written materials presented for your perusal here: Blogs which will be short and hopefully pointed. Essays which will be longer and more clearly stylized as complete thoughts about a specific subject. And mini-books, which will occupy several pages and give links to varied sources for those interested enough in the subject covered to use that much time pursuing it.
Hopefully we will stimulate some of you to respond. While no guns or swords may be allowed please bring your pointed pens to this discussion. We may be amused or offended or even annoyed at some of your responses but we will print them if they follow the rules. Cleverness is encouraged, boring insults will be eradicated. Wisdom or folly deserves to be examined for its real relationship to truth in every case. In no case do we have to tolerate the insufferable nor will we suffer fools gladly.
If you find this blog not worth the entry fee than please find something more useful to do with your time. Since it is free to all; those who enjoy it are more than welcome to return. To those of you who take yourselves more seriously than we believe is sensible this blog may occasionally be anathema. The term of art in that case is T.S.. Maybe rude but it is succinct.
Looking forward is our most common intent as the opposite requires the help of a fallen angel or some far more powerful being unless one wishes to proceed backward into the future. History is used as a source of lessons not as the only means of understanding human behavior. We have all changed a great deal since the world welcomed us in the standard way, with a shock and a great deal of discomfort.
Anger, fear, love and hate will all be expressed without regard to sex race or creed. All of those minor distinctions between humans are equally ridiculous when exposed to the light of what actually makes us human. Discourse argument and resolution are all particularly human traits. We find them fascinating because they know none of those minor things as their master.
Enjoy if you may and then go forth and multiply (carefully). It is really easy to come up with a wrong answer when you do that too rapidly.
