Or How We Know That Nothing Will Help Until People Change Their Minds

No doubt about it, we are in a recession heading for a depression and no one can fix it unless we all work together. I have a dire secret for you. I never listen to talk radio anymore. Even the oldie but moldy Rock station is boring. I now have to turn on classical music to get a small lift. Today they were playing the Requiem Mass. I grimaced for a moment and then I thought,”How Appropriate!

Muck and Mire are leading the band and playing the tunes today in our economy. We have left behind the days of abandoned dancing for the danse macabre. We are no longer addicted to Love but instead entranced by the serpent of suffering staring us down. In other words it is time for a change. We need to grab our bootstraps and pull hard. Damn those cheap boots from China, the straps keep coming off in our hands.

There are few things certain in this world. Self justification is a universal human characteristic, that is one of them. The history of this time will recognize something we are probably going to miss while living in these moments. We could get out of this mess by just changing how we look at the world. Yep, it's the psychology, stupid! should be written on every blackboard, oops whiteboard, in America.

Of course the curse of blaming everyone but ourselves is an epidemic right now. Hopefully that will end soon enough to lift our next generation out of this morass. The pill, it was the PILL, that led the baby boomer's to their moral peak. They learned to worship morass for everyone. They lost their whole generation in a failure to recognize that the whole must be bigger than the sum of the private parts in order for a legacy to be created.

Now they are addicted to Viagra and caught up in a maelstrom of their own devising. The cold winds of the end of their times is upon them. The butterflies need a cocoon, but wait all they know how to do is lay eggs and flit around. They are causing hurricane after hurricane for the next generation to clean up after.

I remain quietly hopeful that the next generation will be better at saving the world. As history will show the Baby Boomers really sucked at saving anything, time, energy, values, wealth, even themselves.
